Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs)

The cell was aimed to provide Intellectual Property Rights awareness to faculty members, research scholars and students. A platform for encouraging filing of IPRs and patenting the products/technologies for the benefit of the Institute and thereby to society at large.

In a world increasingly propelled by technology, research is the foundation of any nation's economic growth. ​IPR cell adopts a sound IP strategy, to secure IPR for a large base of knowledgeable Faculty and highly talented Students in the College. Regular project and research activities of College has innovation potential. So,we are in the process of setting up structured processes to identify, facilitate and develop innovation. In corporate organizations, almost always, there is an exclusive unit dedicated to strategizing on issues of IP. IPR cell is here to provide relevant, timely and targeted support to inventors in protecting their IPR and to boost confidence in generating IPR to make our Institute Self-Reliance in Finances. It also scrutinizes legal and monetary facets of the documentation of research papers. IPR cell has the following aims and objectives:

Besides the above objectives, the IPR cell intends to carry out various activities such as organizing special lectures and seminars, IPR Quiz, Declamation Contest and Student talks, Essay Competition, IPR exhibitions and celebration of World Intellectual Property Day (26th April).

  • To provide IPRs protection information, orientation and facilities to students and faculty.
  • To guide and advice researchers on how to obtain & sustain patents and help them approach the CIPR, Chennai.
  • To work as a link between CIPR and college.
  • To facilitate routing of patent searches to CIPR, Chennai.
  • To get necessary clearances from competent authorities while filling patents and other IPRs like copyright registration and design registration, etc.
  • To workout modalities on behalf of the college for commercialization of patented technologies.
  • To organize various IPR awareness programmes in the campus collaboration with CIPR, Chennai.
